Women´s struggle for equality and respect in the game

To what degree have women been successful in drawing attention to their game, and gain respect and equality?

 Stefán Svavarsson

In Iceland as in most countries, attendance at women´s national team matches has been much lower than at men´s games, even when the women´s team got much better results. In order to boost attendance, the Iceland national women´s team did a series of publicity campaigns in the beginning of the 21st century. They raised money from sponsors to make advertisements and published them in the most widely read newspaper in the country. In this activity, students will look at a series of advertisement posters and discuss topics related to history and equality.
