In what ways did Roman inventions affect later developments in European life?
The Roman Empire was a very influential civilization. Its historical importance can be attributed, in part, to Rome being the largest city in the world at this time.
While the Roman Empire was a fierce warmonger, it was also a pioneer of technical development and created many elements of life still around today.
A lot of today’s tools originate from Roman times. This source collection investigates some Roman inventions and their legacies today.
This source collection has been made by Lorraine Besnier as part of the Europeana DS14 Project, which is co-financed by the European Union Connecting Europe Facility. The collection makes use of sources from the Europeana Collections.
