How depictions of The Last Supper changed during the Renaissance

Since the Last Supper is one of the most common themes in religious art, it has always been interpreted and used in different ways by various artists. The paintings in this collection are arranged chronologically, beginning in the early 15th century up until the mid- 17th century. The main idea of this source collection, is to have an overview of the changes this painting went through during the Renaissance period, in order to compare and contrast the different meanings that were conveyed and the different styles that were used.

This source collection was made by Francesca Rabitti with the support of Bob Stradling of the Historiana editing team. It is part of the Europeana DSI4 project. The collection makes use of sources from Europeana Collection.
