Votes for women abroad: The international women suffrage alliance

Women also organised an international alliance to promote suffrage for women worldwide. The international women suffrage alliance was establish in Washington DC in 1902. It held international congresses in Berlin (1904), Copenhagen (1906), Amsterdam (1908), London (1909), Stockholm (1911) and in Budapest (1913). The WSPU was refused membership in Copenhagen in 1906, probably because of its militant tactics.
