The price of direct action: Emily Wilding Davison

Emily Davison was a suffragette who threw herself under the Kings racehorse at the Epsom Derby on June 4th 1913. Emily died four days later. It is not clear whether her death was deliberate or just an accident, but she had been known for taking radical actions before.


On her tombstone is written:

“Deeds not Words”
