Sanne Deckwitz

Sanne received her BA (cum laude) from University College Maastricht, where she participated in a wide variety of history, philosophy, and international relations courses. As part of her Bachelor, Sanne spent a semester abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she studied Chinese history and philosophy. In 2012, she graduated (cum laude) from Utrecht University with a MA International Relations in Historical perspective. In her MA thesis, she compared the political, economical, and psychological functions of the Communist forced labour camps in the Soviet Union and China. Sanne is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam. Her research is related to corruption, good governance, and policies of redress in the colonial administration of the Dutch East Indies and the Philippines in the period 1850-1942.
