Harald Geiss

Harald Geiss studied from 1967 to 1971 East European and Modern History as well as Political Sciences, Philosophy and Russian at the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University in Frankfurt/M. and obtained his Ph.D. in 1974 with a study on Soviet foreign policy during the Spanish Civil War. In 1975 he joined the German Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb (Federal Agency for Civic Education/FACE), held there several leading positions and is currently Head of the Dept. of Continuing Education and Didactics. Apart from his official occupation Dr. Geiss for 27 years has been lecturing Political Sciences at the Federal University for Public Administration (FHBund) and at the Economic Faculty of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. He published many articles on history and politics of the 20th century and on some issues of political (civic) education.
